Bio
Persia Campbell is a female director and photographer who grew up and has developed on both sides of Mexico's northern border (El Paso and Ciudad Juárez).
Her photographic work focuses on the exploration of female self-representation through the use of color and production design. Her approach includes staging, an essential tool for reconstructing and representing the intimate aesthetics of the border regions and northern Mexico.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, being presented in cities such as Paris, London, New York, Milan, Barcelona and Mexico City. The first series, "Itinerario de una mujer en la frontera" (Itinerary of a woman on the border), was highlighted at the Biennial of Photography in Barcelona, winning first place in the self-portrait category. This recognition was also reflected in the International Photography Awards (IPA), where it obtained first place in the same category, and as a finalist in the Lens Culture Awards Art Photography Awards 2021. The series was exhibited in Paris, at the ImageNation exhibition, in the Just Women section at the Joseph Le Palais gallery, near the Pompidou Center. She also participated in the group exhibition "Declaraciones Cuerpo" at the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts of Chile.
The second series, "Reminiscences of the Border", won recognition by winning the "Female in Focus" photographic contest of the British Journal of Photography 1854, an institution with a long trajectory worldwide. It was exhibited in London, at the PhotoFusion gallery, and published in The Guardian. It was part of FONCA's group exhibition "Creación en Movimiento" at the Museo de San Ildefonso, Mexico City. The main photograph of the series, "2006", was selected by Damarice Amao, curator of photography at the Pompidou Center in Paris, as a winner of the "Colors" contest organized by "Life frame", pointing out: "Behind the superficial idealism of this brilliantly executed image, there's a cleverly constructed comment on the modern world". This same photograph was exhibited in New York by the British Journal of Photography.
In 2023, she had her first solo exhibition presented by Almanaque Gallery in Mexico City. In 2024, the photograph "2006" from the series "Reminiscencias de la Frontera" won second place in the open category of a major photography award organized by TIME magazine and the American Society of Media Photographers.

Miembro de la generación 2020-2021 de Jóvenes Creadores del programa nacional FONCA, su obra fotográfica se sumerge en la exploración de la auto-representación femenina mediante el cuidadoso manejo del color y el diseño de producción. Su enfoque incluye el montaje de escenografía, una herramienta esencial para reconstruir y representar la estética íntima de las regiones fronterizas y del norte de México.
Su traabajo ha sido exhibido internacionalmente, presentndose en ciudades como París, Londres, Nueva York, Milán, Barcelona y Ciudad de México.
